Representation in media has been prominent in today’s culture. People want industries dominated by straight, white, cisgender, able-bodied men (majorities) to be more inclusive and to see a wider array of people represented in the media; not seeing oneself represented can damage one’s self-worth.
Some industries remedy this by swapping majorities for minorities (people who aren’t straight, white, able-bodied, etc. men); others add more of the latter without taking opportunities away from the former.
